    Malaga and Ronda, Spain

    Hi all,

I am an irish biker (25) and looking at spending a month in spain in may as i have a break from university before i start my new job. One of the weeks i plan to go to Sierra Nevada with switchbacks.com, the rest i will be based in a friends appartment in estepona.
I am primarly into more downhill/freeride rather than long XC trails (i like coming down much more than having to pedal up)

I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me information about where to ride in the malaga and ronda areas.

Or better still if you could identify yourself and maybe take me out for a ride around these areas

I am aware you can use the Sewlo gondala at tivoli world - any info on tracks there?
From previous time spend in spain i always thought ronda would be a good place to ride, so would be keen to try get out there.

    many thanks
    swaine

    Hullo,

I used to live out in Spain and rode out there quite a bit.

Switchbacks is very good. They also do a DH holiday based around Malaga which might help you find the trails. Other than the teleferico (which will be quite expensive as you can only buy one years ticket), the best DH trails are in Mijas.

There's also a DH track in Estapona, I never rode there, but there's races there occasionally. Look on this forum and you might be able to find it's location.

There's also riding north of Tarifa and a few holiday companies who operate out of there.

To be honest this forum is pretty rubbish. Not many english speakers read it. You'd be better posting on Southern Downhill or something similar and see if anyone is out in Spain at the moment. It's be much better to hook up with some riders who are living there for a while.

Good luck, I miss those dusty trails!
