Mountain biking in Malaga

So I've been coerced into a family holiday in Malaga this summer. I don't do beaches, I don't do cities and I don't do heat

So to salvage something from this, does anybody know any good mountain bike routes in the area. I will have access to a car (thankfully).

Good places to hire a bike? Good places to ride, preferably in the mountains where it's cooler?

Hi, I personally have never been biking in Malaga so can't say. I don't know how your Spanish is, but you could have a look in 'Rutas y Quedadas', or open a thread like this one (but in Spanish) in the section for Andalucía.

hi orange71,
i live in benalmadena,a hollyday spot in costa del sol .Here you will find many tracks,paths and lost of rutes for biking in the countryside.
Here is one of the biggest places for downhill so to do any tipe of bike style.You'll have no trouble to hire a good bike and find a group to join in.
Unfortunetly i am afraid that it is not cooler in these mountains in summer time but you can still have fun.

You will not definitely avoid the hot summer in Malaga, mountains are not so high (top 1500m) so ALWAYS carry water with you, 3L camelback advised. One week ago I made a 4h ride and I emptied my 3L camelback THREE TIMES! I needed to stop in Alahurin to refill going back and forth on route. There are lot of people riding nearby Malaga, Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Fuengirola, etc. I live in Marbella, 1h drive from Malaga so I do not ride there each weekend. But send me a private message and I can arrange to hook you up with other riders living there.
