BOS-Engineering Suspensions When all was done a said after the recent Pra Loup Masters Worlds, it was time for a drink or two at La Penguin, as it was known to us...inside drinking in the background was a wee Frenchman, Jean-Christophe Charrier, who just happens to be one of the main men at BOS-Engineering Suspenions, who? Did I hear you say? Where have you been.... BOS Suspension is a name steeped in the history of downhill, for the uneducated amongst you Nicolas Vouilloz has been running their suspension systems for years, well up until this year when Fox arrived with a big cheque. In fact Nico has probably done more development with BOS than any other downhiller in the world...Why cos they is French! BOS don't just do the VTT thing, they're producing super high end shocks for much of the Rally market as well, see Impreza's, EVO's and F" cars all over with BOS fitted. JC had some tasty items on show at the BOS booth at Pra Loup, we should all already know about the ultra trick 888 hop up they produced a few years back, after Steve Jones was dribbling all over it in the pages of Dirt recently. Now however in 2007 theyre hoping to make a break into the rear shock market, and not just for your local French Pro! The rear shock showed here is a piece of art, CNCd as usual, but with not of the mass produced look that other shocks have these days. The controls are all there just subtle and understated, i.e not to be played with too much when set up. BOS are hoping to have these shocks OEM on some bikes form 2008, Q Bikes are one brand who have stepped up to the challenge of running such a high end shock on their bikes. The OEM price is high compared with say a Fox or a Rocco...a big move for any bike firm.
