Let's talk about biking in English

Didnt know what a mole gun was until yesterday. Got to the top of a hill to find this strange contraption in the ground. It had a hammer with a nail on the end and a few springs. We poked it with a stick, the hammer came down and set off a shotgun cartridge. Very loud and very unexpected. Poor moles, not a nice way to go.

 

Yeah, weird weapon. Haven´t seen one of those either. I´m glad nothing seriuos happend to you, be careful if you see any devices you are not familiar with. Curiosity killed the... mole. ;-)

I suppose this is purely coincidental but one of my students is originally from Tolosa and today he started telling me all about his home town. He was saying it's in a mountainous region and is famous for producing mountain climbers like Edurne Pasaban. Also Martín Zabaleta's family is from there, he's the first Spaniard to climb Everest. My student also says cross country skiing is big there even though there isn't as much snow as there used to be.

I'll say! You aren't used to technical rides, but you took it like a man. You know, you didn't wet your pants or anything, ha ha ha, bad joke. But hey, keep on improving your technique and come along with us to the Sierra on Sundays.

Your altered picture is funny, yet it also drives home the point of how many factors come into play when in a technical section on a mountain bike. It can really demand a lot of concentration, scoping everything out and choosing the best line and shifting your weight around. Actually that's what I like about mountain biking. Well, one of the things.

And now another window to my bike ride last Sunday. Here we're riding down a fire break towards the Canencia mountain pass. One of they guys I was with (Pedro) said this was in the Valle del Lozoya. Actually the two guys I was with, Pedro and Jesus, know the Sierras like the back of their hands, and I'm sure they could tell me what water reservoir that is in the background. As things stand I can only take an educated guess. Looking at online maps, I think it might be Embalse de Pinilla.

 

LOL It is hard to take it like a man in Alcalá when you have to close your left eye not to see the step-sided canyons passing you by while riding on narrow single tracks. A shiver running down your spine trying to forget that a slight miscalculation would put a sudden end to your smile. ;-)

Hey man! That´s geography lessons on the go that you´re taking. You´ll end up being an expert on how to guide others over there. Totally love these spectacular photos of the Sierras.

 

You can see I'm blissfully happy and doing a victory dance at the top of Pico Perdiguera.

Yeah! I rode the marathon the past year, and the route was awesome. Cercedilla has an impressive terrain for riding. It's even funnier than Alcalá and you also have tons of huge stones and never-ending slopes... Aaahhh! I forgot they even have trees and shadows so you don't need to die boiled under the summer Sun. Are any of you attending?

 

No, I´m not. I´d certainly like to go and ride one of those super bikes available for testing, but I won´t have the time to do it. Anyway, as you say, I recommend anyone who can participate to do so and check them out. The test the best annual event at Cercedilla is looking so good!

 

Hey guys! I couldn´t resist when some minutes ago I saw some test bikes still available for testing porpouses and I´ve just booked a test ride on a full suspension bike and a hardtail in a row. So on Saturday I´ll be at Cercedilla Bike Event riding full sus Kross Earth and hardtail Qüer P-27.5...

I've actually been having some problems with the front forks on my Rallon, I've changed the seals but now they're giving me some problems.

 

Everything should work well on the forks, do not scratch anything, be patient and delicate with mounting those pieces and you´ll work it out. Right now something´s wrong, but I guess it´s fairly easy to get this done.

Entry level full-sussers, why when you can apply for major leagues? Same MArio rode on Cannondale rigs last year, anyway, please tell us about how those 650b wheels perform, which I actually think you would enjoy, the whole pack of full sus + stretched wheels do nothing but good to perform over rough terrain

I reckon I´ve symply applied for them too late. It´s a pity that I didn´t get in time to include some top of the line bikes but I´m satisfied with those two because I´ve never ridden a full sus nor a 27.5". They are humble compared to the matority of those (hundreds of bikes!) available to be tested, but both of them have new and great features waiting for me to make contact with!. ;-)

 

Did you get any progress in discovering what´s wrong with the seals?

 

I finished the job on the forks at 1:15 last night. I'm REALLY glad I was patient because I had some unexpected problems and I could've messed things up. I had two difficulties which didn't come up in those how-to videos. The mechanic at Bicimanía helped me with one of them, and a friend, Pedro, with the other. You can never rush this sort of thing, especially when you're doing it for the first time. It was a great learning experience. Now I know how to change the seals and oil on my front forks! And while you're at it, clean and grease the headset.
