Muy buen vídeo pero lo del túnel me ha parecido una temeridad.

P.D: O no tenía mucha experiencia con vacas es un temerario para pasar así entre los terneros con las madres al lado.

Hello toffel!!! It is my first commentary in this forum and the first sentence that I said is I love your movies like transcantabrica, transpyr and alpes. I would like to do your transcantabrica route and I would like to have all the information as possible. Where did you sleep? hotel or tent? How many km did you stay pushing your bicycle? Why did you carry a bag instead a saddlebag? Where could I download the daily tracks? How many weight did you carry in the bag?

    Hello Naningsi,
Thanks for the compliments! Good to see you like the movies!!
The Transcantabrica-trip was by far the hardest trip. Physically you need to be in a very good shape. There were days when I pushed or carried the bike during 2 or 3 hours, but the views are magnificent, especially because I was lucky with the weather.
There are not many villages up there in the Cantabrian Mountains; it was difficult to find restaurants or even shops to buy some food. I slept in hotels (a tent would be too heavy to carry!).
I don't carry a saddlebag because I am afraid to lose it on one of the fast downhill tracks. Also, the riding of the bike isn't as funny anymore when you carry a saddlebag (of bag on the handlebars). My backpack weighted 10kg + 2liter of water in the Camelbak.

I can't remember where I slept in which hotel, but I would advice you to download my track found on WikiLoc and re-work this track with all information available on the Internet (Google, Google Maps, Google Satellite view, WikiLoc, etc.) to make a more "rideable" track. Search for hotels and shops and include them in your ride. Make sure the hotels are open in the period you plan to go there!

It is also important you know what you are able of: not only the number of kilometers per day, but more important is how many elevation gain you can make on 1 day. With this information you can make a daily plan. My ambition is always around 100km and 3000m elevation, but some days this takes more than 12 hours to complete this distance.
As for the bike, it needs to be in very good condition too. Special tires like the Continental Protection-range work very well in tubeless version.

I don't know what you are able of, but if this is your first trip, make sure to be very good prepared. The Transpyr is easier (but still very hard and beautiful) and more suitable as "maiden voyage".

Let me know if you have more questions!

    Good luck with your projects!!

    Hello Toffel,
Thank you very much for your advice. Did you have any problem with the bike? What kind of spares did you carry? What did you carry in this 10 kg? I think 10 kg and the water is enough to ride a lot of hours, but I don't know because I've never done a trip like this, so I have a lot of questions.

    Hello Naningsi,

I only had some flat tires, so you may need some air chambers and patches to repair the air chambers. And the air pump, of course!
You will also need lube (wet and/or dry) for your chain. If you chain isn't new then one or more quick links can be useful.
A set of spare brake pads in case the weather is awful and the dirt is eating your pads.

As for casual clothes I only have 2 T-shirts, 1 light trouser, 2 pair of socks, 2 pair of underwear, 1 light jacket, 1 pair of easy foldable light shoes. This looks not much, but you will only wear them after arriving at the hotel late in the evening. If there are dirty, you can easily wash them in the shower of the hotel. By the morning it will be dry.

My riding equipment is 2 sets of cycling shorts, 2 T-shirts, 2 pair of socks, a waterproof jacket, gloves, cap (I haven't got much hair anymore), 1 pair of shoes with which you can walk too, long sleeves, leg warmers.
Every night you can wash this equipment in the shower of the hotel. Then you roll them into a towel and squeeze hard until all the water is out. Bu the morning your clothes will be dry, and if not you take the second pair!
One of the most important equipment is waterproof socks; the Sealskinz socks let you stand in a bucket of water without you feet getting wet. This is very important, because if your shoes are wet, you won't be able to dry them overnight. This allows you to have dry feet all the day!
