¿Por qué montar una singlespeed y cómo hacerlo?

    A ver si me podeis explicar un poco en qué consiste el concepto y qué os puede empujar a tener una singlespeed, porque he estado leyendo algo y la verdad me atrae bastante montar una para ir a la facultad!!

    Y la segunda cuestión, se puede convertir en singlespeed una bicicleta normal? ¿Qué habría que hacer?

    Pd. No sé si es el lugar más adecuado para poner el post, pero es en el que más ilusión me hace recibir respuestas, experiencias e ideas porque creo que aquí la gente tiene algo más "especial" con las bicis...jeje, y no hay que decir que me encantaaa!!!

    En mi universo particular...
    A falta de que se expliquen los gurus de las SS, cualquier bici puede ser transformada. En esencia solo necesitas cambiar los piñones por un Kit de 1 solo piñon, un tensor y un solo plato, y listo (y quitar lo sobrante claro...)

    Gracias por la primera respuesta Shidar!

    Se me plantean nuevas dudas: ese kit de un sólo piñón se puede colocar en una rueda cualquiera o hace falta un buje específico? y,¿cualquier biela puede llevar un único plato?

    La verdad es que como es la segunda bici que tengo y sólo la quiero para la ciudad, pues me planteaba probar la experiencia de montar en una ss y por eso quería saber algo sobre las sensaciones, la conducción y tal...

    Será muy caro hacer la transformación?

    :pc3 Hay kits para poner un piñon en un buje de 9v, son dos cilindros que ocupan el espacio sobrante y en medio metes el piñon. Y sí puedes poner un plato en bielas de 3, pero los tornillos del plato o necesitan separadores o les cortas.

    no necesitas mucho mas de lo que ha dicho shidar, aparte de quitar todo lo que sobra.

    Pain comes from having a body.
    Without a body, how could there be pain?

    Surrender yourself humbly; then you can be trusted to ride any trail.
    Love your bike as your own self; then you can truly ride anywhere.

    The skill of their riding is unfathomable.
    Because it is unfathomable,
    All we can do is describe their appearance.
    Delicate, like riders crossing a winter stream.
    Alert, as if on tight singletrack.
    Balanced, as if negotiating a switchback.
    Focused, as if on a long climb.
    Yielding, like fine steel.
    Simple, like track hubs.
    Smooth, like machined bearings.

    Who can wait quietly for the ride to begin?
    Who can remain still until the moment of action?
    Followers of singlespeeding do not seek advantage.

    Do you think you can take my bike and improve it?
    I do not believe it can be done.

    My singlespeed is sacred.
    You cannot improve it.
    If you try to change it, you will lose it.
    If you add a suspension fork, you will ruin it.

    So sometimes I am ahead and sometimes I am behind;
    Sometimes breathing is hard, sometimes it comes easily;
    Sometimes there is strength and sometimes weakness;
    Sometimes the trail goes up and sometimes down.

    Therefore the singlespeeder avoids extremes, complacency, and heavy traffic on climbs.

    Is there a difference between the granny and the big ring?
    Is there a difference between uphill and downhill?
    Must I ride what others ride? What nonsense!
    Other people are contented, enjoying their full suspension.

    Sprints do not last all morning,
    Descents do not last all day.

    The follower of singlespeeding
    is at one with his bike.

    When you conserve your momentum,
    The flow is always there.

    He who sprints cannot maintain the pace.
    He who makes a show is not enlightened.
    He who is self-righteous is not respected.
    He who boasts achieves nothing.
    He who brags will not endure.
    According to the followers of singlespeeding,

    They do not bring happiness.
    Therefore followers of singlespeeding avoid them.

    Flow is the way of the singlespeed.

    Gracias por vuestras aportanciones al post!

    Gracias Raposu por el Tao del singlespeed, me lo acabo de leer entero y me ha dejado una sensación increible en el cuerpo, la verdad es que tengo ganas de probar el concepto: creo que tiene que ser algo especial, que el mundo se debe ver diferente con una sola velocidad, con otra tranquilidad, con serenidad y no ofuscado siempre con las marchas y buscando ir siempre lo más rápido posible, sino dejando que sea la montaña la que te marque el camino, dejando que tome las decisiones por tí, así serás más libre!

    Por cierto, será dificil encontrar los materiales, sobretodo para lo del buje... y en fín, tengo que mirar el asunto de las bielas... en cuanto regrese a la ciudad empezaré a hacer averiguaciones tb!

    Nop, hay muchos kits de conversión. Ebay está lleno, y seguro que hay tiendas que tienen... Eso si habrás de probar que combinación es la mejor para tus piernas y la orografia del terreno...
