Today Xbox of Japan announced their plans to begin selling a collapsible bicycle in late October. It's unknown why Xbox opted to keep the news under wraps until so close to the product's street date, but I'm sure industrial espionage played a large role. Xbox execs would have been livid if their plans were foiled by a Nintendo or Konami collapsible bike beat them to market by a few weeks. The bikes are being manufactured in limited quantities and will retail for about $210, so it appears that they are more of an enthusiast/novelty purchase rather than Xbox making a serious effort to get into the industry. A preorder program will begin on August 15th and run through September 3rd for those who want that level of peace of mind. The bikes themselves are the eye-catching "Xbox black" and are branded with the Xbox logo.
