Lots of information on Southern Spain and MTBs, but I can't find much regarding the North coast. Any suggestions on where I can find info regarding mountain biking in the Gijon area? I am travelling there summer of 2008 and would like to rent a good bike while I am there. Anyone know if there is a bike shop that rents bikes in this area of Spain? Any good trails? :chinchin
Hi, I have send an e-mail to BICI-OH, maybe they know where are all those bike parks and maybe they rent some bikes. I will post here the information wich they gave to me I the answer to my mail. C u
Vallnord might be a bit too far from Gijon, (800km) no? The yellow pages have given a list of shops that say they hire bikes, but you're on your own to get more info. Have a look in this very forum for info up north, again you'll have to do some digging around. From http://www.misrutas.net/ you might be able to find some routes, I've never used them so can't comment on their quality. Another relatively useful site, but it doesn't seem to have much to offer for mtb in Cantabria.
thanks again I will see what I can "dig-up" in the Yellow pages. I have seen some routes in this site. Unfortunately my Espanol is dismal.
I guess if you want a nice ride along the north of Spain it may be worth you looking into doing the "Camino de Santiago". There are various routes to follow, all ending in Santiago de Compostela. Hope this helps!
for sure there are some good trails in gijon! i dont know if there is a bike shop that rents (i think there aren´t) but before you come next year write your questions here... http://www.foromtb.com/showthread.php?t=34613 ... some of the "untalented castrones" know how to speak english very well and will help you. agur.
I think there aren't any bike shops rents bikes, but maybe somebody can lend you one for one or two weeks! For sure there are good trails in gijon and all around Asturias!!! Ask one of these bike clubs from: Castrones or Asturcones. They will tell you everything you need to know. Enjoy you're stay and Have fun!
If you need one bike for some days I don´t see a problem with this, some of us could lend you one. Write the questions before your trip. There are good trails, better than goods, superbs.
The "Trailrider guide to spain" has some recommendations around Gijon. The place has got hills and trees, so there´s likely to be some good riding. http://www.trailriderguide.co.uk/
