There's a new type of Prophet imminent, a teasing glimpse of Christoph Sauser's new enduro-style bouncy bike, and details of Cannondale's recent deal with Sugoi clothing. All pretty intriguing stuff really... The Prophet MX is a 140mm travel "light freeride" bike, intended for more extreme duties than the regular Prophet models but much lighter than the Gemini. "A well balanced all-around/all-condition extreme bike" claim Cannondale. So the Prophet range has been split into two disciplines with the SL being all lightweight and racy and the new MX being more "extreme" and freeridey. According to Cannondale: "Inspired by Cedric Gracias 4-Cross rig, the Prophet MX is a lightweight, flick-able freeride machine. Thru12 axle rear plus added travel make it light enough for the ascent and burly enough to take the hits going down." The MX sports a beefy frame/swingarm, sharing the same frame as the 2005 Prophet 4-cross. Other frame features include: Thru-12 swingarm (135mm rear hub), ISCG bottom bracket mount (for chain guards), gusset at the head tube/down tube junction. The component choice is toward to the solid and overbuilt end of the spectrum: Fox 36 Talas R fork (150mm), Fox DHX Air 5.0 rear shock (140mm), 2.35" tires, wider section 32 hole rims, chain-guard and double chain-ring on a burly crankset, shorter oversized stem, zero offset aluminium seatpost etc... Prophet 1 MX - available end of September. Prophet 2 MX - available late August. Prices to be confirmed.
