The Genius "MC-20" and "MC-10" bikes have "Superlight" carbon fibre front triangles with alloy swing arms, the "MC Limited" has a "HMF Ultralight" carbon fibre front triangle with a "X3" alloy swingarm. Both the MC-10 and MC-20 come with Fox TALAS RL forks and a mix of DT Swiss and Sun bits for the wheel ingredients. The MC Limited will sport a Fox TALAS RLC and will roll on a Mavic CrossMax UST wheelset. The MC-20 will come with a virtually complete Shimano XT drivechain, the MC-10 and MC Limited will be full XTR - as Pascal from Scott said: "we do not mix and match drivechain componentry". Which, like their race-based outlook, is all very 1990's isn't it? Let's hope their dogmatic stance doesn't catch them out when the much-rumoured Shimano parts shortage is meant kick in later this year (it's worth noting that the bikes at the press launch sported an impromtu mix of SRAM and Avid bits and bobs). The suspension design on all the MC range is a 5" travel genuine 4-bar linkage with the pivot (controversially) placed on the chainstay for a better axle path and superior performance under braking (just don't mention how this affects their sale-ability in America okay?). All models come with a bar-mounted adjuster which controls a "Genius TC" rear shock. 3 modes are on offer: "All Terrain" (most linear and supple) for descending and/or rough terrain, "Traction" (stiffer, more progressive) for climbing and/or milder terrain, and "Lockout" (erm... locked out). The MC-20 is expected to cost 3,900, the MC-10 4,400 and the MC Limited 6,100. The MC Limited has claimed weight of 25.1 lb, frame-only weight is 4.96 lb. The Genius "RC-20", "RC-10" and "RC Limited" bikes sport virtually identical drivechain, wheel and braking components as their MC equivalents (the limited sports Avid SD Ultimate V-brakes). The "only" differences seemingly being shorter non-adjustable front travel from Fox FRL100 (on the MC-20) and Fox FX100 (MC-10 and Limited) forks, a shorter wheelbase and an overall lighter weight (it uses titanium instead of aluminium in certain areas). The RC-20 is expected to cost 4,200, the RC-10 5,700 and the RC Limited 6,300. The claimed weight of the RC Limited is 22.9 lb, frame-only weight is 4.69 lb. The "Scale" is Scott's hardtail range. It has acquired this rather unusual moniker because it is believed it will help Mr Frischi "scale the mountains in Athens faster". Hmm... catchy. Again the "20", "10" and "Limited" versions of the Scale sport similar bits as the RC models of the same number except with 80mm travel Fox F80FRL (on the 30 and 20), Fox FX80 (on the 10) and Rock Shox SID WC's (on the Limited) forks up front. There is a "30" model available in this range too with a full Shimano LX drivechain and disc brake setup. The 30, 20 and 10 Scales use the same "Superlight" carbon fibre frame. The Limited is constructed out "HMF Ultralight" carbon fibre. The Scale 30 is expected to cost 2,700, the Scale 20 3,200, the Scale 10 4,700 and the Scale Limited 5,400. The Scale Limited has a claimed weight of 16.97 lb, frame-only weight is 2.14 lb. Blimey. Scale 10 Scale LTD Carretera.. CR1 LTD
Me encanta el scale 20 de carbono...y los colores también. Aunque no varían mucho los diseños de los cuadros, siempre con el negro. Saluetes... 8)
Impresionante, la scale LTD pesará unos 8 Kilos de serie, es una buena manera de entrar en Light-bikes.com a golpe de talonario... Y el cuadro está por debajo del Kilo, es lo mas ligero que he visto nunta. Un saludo.
Me imagino que al ser las primeras unidades no estarán del todo bien acabadas, porque esos trozos de pegamento que sobresalen de las punteras no le dan muy buen aspecto que digamos. Por lo demás tienen buena pinta, la Strike no me termina de convencer por el sistema de suspensión pero la rígida me encanta, ahora hay que ver si un cuadro por debajo del kilo soporta un uso normal por la montaña...

Muy bonitas, y ese carbonooooooooooooooooo mmmmmmmmmmmmm Lo unico q no me gusta de la scale son los soportes para la pinza del disco trasero. No me dan ninguna confianza, aunq ese tipo de bicis tan light lo suyo es q lleven v´s...
veamos, como es posible que lo más más ligero que se venda sean 1.2, 1.3 kilos, y de repente llegue una marca y haga un cuadro en menos de 1 kilo..... es algo que no me cuadra...........
Lo mas ligero ahora mismo es el Scott rigido de Aluminio Scandium (2003-04), que pesa 1.1 kg. Scott es una de las pocas marcas que le da prioridad absoluta al peso y llevaban dos años con la misma rígida, asi que supongo que han tenido tiempo para currarse ese pedazo de cuadro. Un saludo.
la cuestion es el compromido peso-durabilidad.. esta claro q pa los pro se pueden hacer cuadros ligerisimos q a las X carreras se cambien.. Tambien es verdad q hay dos tipos de resistencia..uno es lo q dure un cuadro a determinados tratos.. y otro lo q dura sus propiedades en uso normal a lo largo del tiempo..
Pos no se... pero a mi un cuadro de 970gr me da un miedo impresionante. Yo creo que esos cuadros los hacen para "llevarse el premio del cuadro mas ligero" y poco mas. Habra que ver cuanto vale y cuanto dura.
umm scott, yo q curro en el corte ingles y me salen el 15% mas baratas..ya veremos aver los precios finales y si puedo me monto una light...(ojala!!!!)jajajaj:d saluos!!!!!
